Thank You!!

The most memorable moment of this week was all of the wonderful ladies, gentlemen, and dogs who came out to support us at the walk in honor of Megan Grace.
It was a beautiful day for a wonderful cause and Steve, Tonka, Megan Grace, and I would like to thank all of your for your support both in person and through the donations you have made to her memorials.
All of it really does mean a lot and is much appreciated. At last count we had already surpassed the amount needed to purchase the Junior League paver in honor of Megan Grace. Any additional money is in her account and will go towards the scholarship fund we are setting up at ECU.
Hopefully, through all of this we can keep her memory alive even once she is gone but it is not without the help of many others that all of this is being done.
Thank you so much for everything from the cards, phone calls, emails, donations, showing up at events, gifts, food, etc. it really has been overwhelming. I've tried to keep track and make sure I thanked everyone personally in some way, shape, or form. If I have not please know we greatly appreciate everything down to the smallest gesture. It means a lot to us and Megan Grace. Have a great week!

  3. Here from LFCA: just wanted to let you know how incredibly sorry I am for your news about your sweet daughter. I am so impressed with your ability to follow through on what I know are tough informational sessions, and proceed with grace while keeping in mind your awesome role as a parent. Thinking of you all.

Unfortunately I know from experience what it is like to carry a pregnancy after begin given a likely terminal diagnosis/prognosis. Last year I gave birth on 4/17 to a baby girl, Molly Marie, just shy of 30 weeks gestation. She had a rare and severe combination of congenital heart defects. We found out about them when she was about 14 weeks gestation. We also chose to continue the pregnancy after receiving the diagnosis. We have a strong faith and never gave up hope. Our baby girl was born and lived for 15 minutes. We felt blessed to have that time with her.

It has not been an easy journey since our daughter was born and went to Heaven. However, we have a had a lot of support from family and friends. Though losing our baby girl is something I will never "get over," I am learning to live without her and the pain does seem to get softer over time.

Anyway, please know that I am thinking of and praying for your family during this bittersweet time. There are a lot of resources, some of which you may have found already that may be helpful to you in the coming days. If you haven't already, you might want to check out:
www.perinatalhospice.org (there are a lot of great resources here for families who have been given a terminal diagnosis/prognosis for their baby during their pregnancy. I highly recommend reading "Waiting for Gabriel" and "Empty Cradle, Broken Heart." Both books helped me a lot before and after Molly's birth and death)

www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org (this organization will help to connect you with a bereavement photographer, if you choose to have one present for Megan's birth)

I also have written extensively on my blog:
www.chicagobensons.blogspot.com during our pregnancy and since about our journey with our Molly Marie, in case you want to check it out. That said, in case it might be difficult for you right now, I am pregnant again and do write about that on my blog as well.

Take care and God bless. Hang in there. I know this isn't an easy road, but it seems like you and your family have a lot of support. (((HUGS)))
